There were no houses along Hatton Lane in Stretton until the 20th century . Bower Crescent, off Hatton Lane, was built after the Second World War and many local families who had previously lived in tied agricultural cottages moved in. The close was named after the village doctor Harry Bower whose wife came from Walls Pit House.
